The Locust Hill Station at the Markham Museum is a cherished heritage building, that had been experiencing ongoing roof issues. The City of Markham initiated the bid for replacing shingles on a heritage building roof. We were honoured to eventually be selected as the successful contractor through a competitive bidding process. Our role was to restore this historic building while still preserving its integrity and character. For the project, we chose CertainTeed Landmark shingles – a traditional architectural style shingle we felt perfectly complemented the historic character of the building. To add more durability, we applied a complete layer of ice and water shield over the wood decking before installing the shingles. We also installed new metal flashing at the base of the newly rebuilt chimney for extra security and weather resistance.
