HIGHLIGHTS FOR NEW HERITAGE BUILDING ROOF

After a competitive bidding process with the City of Markham, Industrial Roofing was awarded the Cedar Grove Community Centre new building roof project. This beautiful heritage site required a new asphalt shingle roof, and we proudly took on the job. With approval from the heritage committee on the shingle colour, we were ready to begin the project while preserving the character of this historical building.

During the initial assessment, we found that some areas of the wood decking had deteriorated and needed replacing. We carefully removed the old planks and installed new, durable wood decking where needed. After that, we laid down GAF underlayment across the roof and applied GAF Ice and Water shield along the eaves. Finally, we installed Timberline HD shingles, chosen for their durability and aesthetics that complement the heritage buildingā€™s style. One of the unique challenges when working on a heritage building such as the Cedar Grove Community Centre is making sure any updates blend in seamlessly with the historical aesthetic of the site.

Our team worked very closely with the heritage committee. Together we made sure that the colour and material type of the shingles chosen fit into the original design and kept its historic charm. We made sure to take care with both modern and original materials throughout this high-quality roofing solution.
As always, our team took extra care to maintain a clean work site. We laid tarps around the building to catch debris and swept the ground with a magnet to pick up any stray roofing nails. At the end of the project, the Cedar Grove Community Centre had a refreshed new heritage building roof, with the heritage siteā€™s character fully preserved.
